Manfred Palmen

Manfred Palmen (born March 11, 1945 in Kaarst ) is a German politician ( CDU ), he was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament from 2000 to 2012 and Parliamentary State Secretary for administrative structures and sport from 2005 to 2010.

Career and political career

After passing the school leaving examination in Neuss in 1966 , Palmen did voluntary military service with the 261 parachute battalion in Lebach from 1966 to 1968 . He then studied law at the University of Bonn from 1968 to 1972 and did his legal clerkship from 1973 to 1975 at the regional court in Düsseldorf. From 1976 to 1990 he worked for the district government in Düsseldorf and the Ministry of the Interior in North Rhine-Westphalia, before moving to Kleve as city director , an office that he held until 1999. Between October 1, 1999 and June 2, 2000, Palmen worked as a lawyer before he was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament in the state elections, to which he had been a member since June 2, 2000. In the 2005 and 2010 elections he was able to return to the state parliament as a direct candidate for the CDU in constituency 54 ( Kleve II ). From June 2005 to July 2010 he was also Parliamentary State Secretary. From September 2010 until the new state elections in May 2012, he was Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee.

Palmen hit the headlines in September 2011 because he sued in court for an increase in his pension despite total earnings of almost € 9,800 a month. The action was dismissed on November 9, 2011 by the Düsseldorf Administrative Court.

Palmen is a member of the "FC Landtag", the soccer team of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament.
