Manfred W. Gekeler

Manfred W. Gekeler (* 1951 ) is a German electrical engineer and university professor.

Life

Gekeler studied electrical engineering with a focus on technical electronics at the University of Stuttgart as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation (1972–1978). In 1984 he became a Dr.-Ing. At the Technical University of Darmstadt with the thesis "Three-phase voltage-impressing three-stage inverters". PhD.

After 10 years in industry, most recently as head of development with power of attorney at an internationally operating Swiss stock corporation, he received a professorship for "Power Electronics and Electrical Drives" in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at today's Konstanz University of Technology, Economics and design (HTWG Konstanz), University of Applied Sciences.

Act

In addition to teaching, Gekeler researched in various fields, in particular power electronics, and participated in cooperative development projects and know-how transfer to regional medium-sized industry, for example in clocked power supplies or in the field of electrodynamic generation of shock waves for shock wave therapy in human medicine. In 2010 he invented the " S3L Inverter " (abbreviation for "Soft Switching Three Level Inverter"), a highly efficient power electronic inverter for use in electrical rotary field drives, as a grid feed inverter for photovoltaic and wind power plants as well as for power supplies.
