Mankiewicz Gebr. & Co. is a Hamburg-based company that is active in the field of solvent-based and water-thinnable paints for industrial series production. Mankiewicz paints are used in general industry as well as in the automotive and aerospace industries.

history

Mankiewicz Gebr. & Co. was founded in 1895 as an independent subsidiary of the English paint factory Robert Ingham Clark and Felix Mankiewicz for the sale and later for the production of coach paints based on original English formulations.

The paint and varnish manufacturer Ottmar J. Grau acquired the company from the heirs of the Mankiewicz family in 1930 and it has been family-owned ever since.

In addition to the headquarters in Hamburg, there are two production sites in Germany: Norix Lackfabrik in Scheeßel and Rüdt Industrielacke in Dettingen (Ems) . The global presence of the company is ensured by 16 foreign subsidiaries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

Business areas

The paint systems product portfolio can be divided into three major sales areas: automotive, aviation and general industry.

General industry: At Mankiewicz, the general industry area can be subdivided into the areas of mechanical and plant engineering, construction and agricultural machinery, yachts, medical technology, railways, powertrains and wind power. The exact composition and function of the paint systems used depends on the respective requirements of the industry.

Automotive: In the automotive sector, Mankiewicz produces interior paints that are mainly used to coat plastic parts. A particular focus is on decorative haptic paints for the interior.

Aviation: Mankiewicz supplies paint systems for the interior and exterior as well as for structural parts. The development of the ALEXIT BaseCoat / ClearCoat system in 2006 for the exterior painting of aircraft represented an important milestone in the history of aircraft painting, as the system enables significant time, material and cost savings.
