Crew platoon

As Mannschaftszug a method is called the crevasse rescue , so the rescue of a climber from a crevasse .

When climbing a crevasse glacier , it is advisable to walk in a rope team of 2 to 6 people.

A crevasse rescue in the team platoon is carried out by pulling the entire team on the rope. As a result, the fallen victim is pulled out again without additional measures. This usually requires at least three, better four people on a rope.

However, great caution is required because the climber who is in the crevice can be pushed to the crevice edge and seriously injured by the rescuers when pulling up out of the crevice ( chest injuries due to compression at the crevice edge).

To prevent the rope from cutting into the snow, an ice ax must be placed under the rope at the edge of the crevice . A command giver (the first in the rope after the accident victim) must give the commands, the rope pull must be gentle and orderly. The person in charge must give the command to "pull the rope by one meter" or, as soon as the casualty is pulled near the edge of the crevice, "pull the rope by half a meter".
