Mansa Camio

Mansa Camio (born March 22, 1954 in Baro , Guinea ) is a musician from Guinea and Djembéfola.

biography

Mansa Camio is the stage name. His birth name is Mamoudou Camara. He was born in Baro , a village in the G'Beredou region, Kouroussa prefecture , the son of a blacksmith. He became interested in the Djembé music of his homeland from an early age . After his apprenticeship as a blacksmith in Bamako and Abidjan , he returned to his home village, where he dedicated himself to the preservation and transmission of the village tradition . Due to his origins, he is responsible for organizing the annual Dalamon or Fête de la mare. Since 1994 he has been regularly on workshop and concert tours to Europe. However, the center of his life is still Baro.

Since 1995 he has been running the Anbada Sofoli drum school in Baro, where local and international students are trained.
