The KME Mansfeld GmbH (ehem. Mansfeld copper and brass GmbH ) is a German company for primary products and semi-finished copper and copper alloys. It manufactures products such as strips, plates, sheets, wire, tubes, rods and profiles as well as special solutions from copper, brass and alloys .

history

The factory near Hettstedt

In 1909 the wire rolling mill in Hettstedt started operations and in 1910 a new reversing mill . In 1912 a copper sheet rolling mill, a wire drawing shop and a bar train were put into operation. In 1946 MKM became a Soviet joint-stock company . In 1970 MKM was incorporated into the VEB Mansfeld Kombinat "Wilhelm Pieck". 1990, after the reunification , the Walzwerk Hettstedt AGfounded. In 1993 Mansfelder Kupfer und Messing GmbH Hettstedt (MKM) was created from a merger of Mansfeld AG with Walzwerk Hettstedt AG (subsidiary of Mansfeld AG). In 1995 the Belgian Lamitref Group took over the now privatized MKM. In 2004 MKM was acquired by Kazakhmys Plc. Taken over and in 2013 by Copper Bidco GmbH. The Hannam & Partners (London) investor group then took over MKM. In 2019, MKM was taken over by KME .
