The MTB II - shell collective agreement for federal workers was from 1964 to 1996 the basis of the collective agreement for the federal employees subject to the workers' pension insurance.

The contract partners were the Federal Republic of Germany , represented by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Public Services, Transport and Traffic Union (ÖTV), one of Verdi's predecessor unions .

The MTB II was replaced on March 1, 1996 together with the largely identical collective agreement for workers of the federal states (MTL II) by the collective collective agreement for workers of the federal and state governments (MTArb).

The reason for the merger of the two collective agreements was the possible simplification in collective bargaining, as in future only negotiations for one collective agreement had to be conducted.
