Manu Théron

Manu Théron (born July 6, 1969 in Briey ) is a French singer.

Therón grew up in Marseille and Algeria and had piano lessons from the age of seven. As a teenager he studied the Occitan language and poetry. In the early 1990s he traveled four years through southern Italy and Bulgaria to get to know the traditional music of the regions.

In 1995 he returned to Marseille and from then on devoted himself to Occitan singing and music. In 1995 he founded the vocal trio Gacha Empega and four years later the polyphonic ensemble Lo Còr de la Plana , with whom he toured internationally. He is also involved in a number of other formations as musical advisor or artistic director, including Chin Na Na Poun , a group specializing in interpreting the lyrics of Victor Gélu , Polifònic System , an electronic music group, the La Madalena women's choir and the Mediterranean ensemble Sirventés .
