Mao Denda ( Japanese 傳 田 真 央 , Denda Mao ; born March 29, 1980 in Nagano , Nagano Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese J-Pop singer with R&B influences.

Career

Mao made her debut in 2000, where she released the single Mimi Moto ni Iru yo… - Ring the Bells ( 耳 も と に い る よ…〜Ring the bells〜). The single reached number 29 on the Oricon charts in Japan and stayed in the charts for ten weeks. She released her first studio album in the same year under the name Eternal Voice and the album was placed at number 31 and stayed in the charts for eight weeks. After further publications, however, she decided to resign from the music industry in 2001 and not to release any CDs at first. During this period she worked with artists such as Ai and gave guest appearances.

Five years later, in 2006, after she gave her last release, she worked with the popular Japanese hip-hop group Ketsumeishi and decided to return to the music industry. Her comeback she gave later that year, but under the pseudonym Mao / d (proper spelling: MAO / d) and released the single Very Love -0.5 ° C . After another single and an EP , however, she left the music industry again.

In 2009 she returned once again, but with her real name, which she first used as a stage name. She released her second studio album I Am in December 2009 . Today she mainly publishes download singles and has so far also released two other studio albums Ren'ai Chūdoku ( 恋愛 中毒 ) (2010) and Semi Double ( セ ミ ダ ブ ル ) (2013) .

18 years after her debut, she announced in 2018 that she would retire on May 2nd of the same year after her final concert entitled “Denda Mao Eternal Voice Tour 2018: Premium Final in Tokyo”. Before that, she released her first compilation on March 14th of that year, entitled "Eternal Best 2000-2018" as her last musical release.
