Maré (music project)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maré is a music project created in December 1996 in Dülmen for disabled amateur musicians.

Career and distribution

Founded in Dülmen with relatively simple means such as Musikmaker and Cakewalk, it developed into a “style-free” project independent of the musical mainstream. This project is now international thanks to a constant internet presence since December 2002. In spring 2004 it reached the international Besonic charts, countries like Australia and Canada within the top 50. Started by Dülmen in the Coesfeld district and since 1999 in the Neuwied area , it spread In the course of cooperation, the radius of the project with the help of the Internet is almost Germany-wide, there are in addition to Berlin and Bremen, also in the greater Frankfurt am Main and greater Münster / Westf area. Musicians and people interested in music who participated directly or indirectly in the project and helped and helped to keep it alive.

particularities

The specialty of Maré in addition to the freedom of style is the non-commercial work of disabled musicians as a platform for texts and melodies. Although it was designed, managed and kept alive by the disabled, support from associations, churches and political institutions has not been used, and all purchases and costs have been borne by the members or by donations in kind and money from friends and fans. The identity of the project therefore not only comes from the practicing members, but also from the fans, who have not only been and are openly called on to collaborate, but also offer it on their own and see themselves as an integral part of Maré . This is so intentional in order to make music for the listeners and for the simple reason to have and share fun and an unlimited passion for the music. So it is understandable that the circle of regular fans is limited to around 50 people, but all songs published on the net were heard over 3500 times, which also suggests that there is an unknown number of regular listeners.

The musical areas are very extensive and the currents are quite different, as are the tastes of the regular musicians and those of the fans. So it is no problem for Maré to put a song in the “Easy Listening” area and one from the “Hardtrance” area on an album. This may seem strange to outsiders, but this is exactly what defines Maré, if everything else cannot somehow be put into one category, then this is exactly what belongs to the project as an integral part.

In addition to the disabilities and evidence, repeatedly heaved into the first rounds as a consolation participant in the casting shows and chosen on the basis of pity, Maré sees himself with its physically and neurologically disabled members as a counterexample that creativity requires neither pity nor larger donations.

Especially in the case of discriminatory disabilities such as AD (H) S or AIDS, because they are not immediately visible, they are still tainted with common prejudices, although life with HIV is not immediately fatal and there are also no homosexual or drug-related sufferers, but also AD (H) S reveals unusual creativity and working methods and perspectives in those affected.

So you see yourself as a platform especially for these fringe groups of the fringe group and since AIDS has a larger lobby and none of the members is affected, the focus is more on "Life against AD (H) S!"

Working method

Another special feature of this project is that it is open to every musician, no matter what kind of music he / she belongs to. It is also irrelevant whether there is a disability. As early as 1998 there was a DJ who wanted to familiarize himself with the equipment at the time, and in 2001 there was a guitarist who used an acoustic guitar to accompany several pieces. In 2003 two DJs remixed a trance piece, which also contributed to the project, albeit under their own name. But also pure amateur musicians are cordially invited and welcome, because it is not the professional that counts, but the desire. The only criterion that counts is that you are already producing something audible, i.e. pure sound effects or sound experiments are then less in demand. In this sense, a choir project has been running on the Internet for a long time, in which Laiensingers try out several pieces.

At the moment Maré works with three permanent studios, which are called Base. Northbase is located in Herford, managed and managed by Chris Derbert, the Westbase in Neuwied-Centrum, managed and managed by Darktow3r and the Northbase in the Cologne area, which is managed and managed by Trijamedes. In addition to the full-time musicians, there are musicians all over Germany who added their contribution. However, it is open to everyone from anywhere and all that is required is the contact that can be made via the homepages.

2009/2010 will be a longer musical creative break, as the members want to get more involved in other projects and the albums still planned, some of which have been published, do not have a deadline. The break was decided at the last major meeting, but a dissolution was rejected.

It is interesting to mention that a cooperation between several authors and Trijamedes came about, who repeatedly publishes parts of a soundtrack for a small series of amateur books. Individual pieces can already be heard in the portal, see below.
