Maria Cristina Orantes

María Cristina Orantes (born August 30, 1955 in Mexico City ) is a Salvadoran poet.

The daughter of the Guatemalan writer and politician Alonso Orantes and the Salvadoran poet Elisa Huezo Parades works as a lawyer and notary. She is co-founder of the group Poesía y Más , the first literary women's group in El Salvador. Her poems have appeared in magazines such as Palabras de la Siempre Mujer and Mujeres en la Literatura Salvadoreña and in collections such as Colección de Juegos Florales de San Salvador and Revista Ars . She published the books of poetry Llama y Espina and Paso leve que en el polvo avanza .

In 1997 she received the Juegos Florales de Zacatecoluca prize with the collection of poems Confesor de Silencios and in the same year an honorable mention at the Juegos Florales de San Salvador with the collection of poems Voz del Amigo Eterno , and in 1999 she received the second prize at the Juegos Florales with Huellas de Nieblo de San Miguel and in 2000 an honorable mention by the Juegos Florales de Santa Ana with the Elegía Cantar del Tiempo en la Tierra .
