María del Carmen Aguilar

María del Carmen Aguilar (born February 22, 1945 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine music teacher and scholar.

Life

Aguilar studied architecture, music theory and analysis, and performance at the Universidad de Buenos Aires . She was a professor of music analysis at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. She also gave courses for music teachers, musicians and composers in music analysis and ear training at music schools and universities in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and Norway. She has published works on music didactics and analysis and on choral conducting as well as choral movements.

Between 1990 and 2000 she held regular seminars and conferences for the International Society for Music Education (ISME). From 1990 to 1996 she was a member (from 1994 board member) of the commission Education of the Professional Musician of the ISME. As a performing musician, she is the singer and assistant director of the Estudio Coral de Buenos Aires , an important Argentine chamber choir under the direction of Carlos López Puccio , which is particularly dedicated to the interpretation of the works of composers of the 20th century and with the Premio Konex de Platino in 1999 and 2009 was awarded.
