Maradona is a five-piece rock band from Cologne.

Band history

Tim and Jörg, who had already played together as "O2" in 2003, met Achim, who was a member of the Krefeld band "Strike9", and the singer Pete at a soccer tournament in 2006. They founded the band Maradona , which was joined by bassist David, who had previously been a member of John Q. Public .

Drummers Tim Linderschmidt and Daniel Sluga , who had previously worked together as producers and remixers, produced the band's debut album. In July 2009, the single Mexico was released in advance and was able to place in the German singles charts.

Reviews

In the press, the debut album Life is beautiful caused divided opinions. During the music week , Maradona writes "let their musical muscles flex without clinging to tough attitudes and thus occupy a position in the spectrum of intelligent rock", summarizes Computer Bild , saying that the band "hardly misses a tough job" on their debut album. For VIVA, however, the result can be “more than just heard”. Rockszene.de attests the band “street credibility”, as they “sometimes rock in a charming, original [...] and powerful way”. Music-Scan.de judges that the band “only has to do peripherally” with rock and the album “splashes along [...] and fails grandiose”.
