Marc Pajot (born September 21, 1953 in La Baule , France) is a French sailor .

Life

Pajot, together with his brother Yves, won the silver medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in the Flying Dutchman at the age of 19 . In 1975 he was also world champion with this dinghy. He then switched to ocean yachts and sailed with Éric Tabarly's team , including in the first Whitbread Round the World Race in 1973. Together with Tabarly, he was second in the Lorient-Bermuda-Lorient transatlantic race in 1979 on the hydrofoil Paul Ricard .

Further high seas successes followed, for example he won the one-handed transatlantic regatta Route du Rhum in 1982 .

In 1987 and 1992 he reached the semi-finals of the Louis Vuitton Cup as the skipper of the French teams French Kiss and Ville de Paris . In 1995 his team was eliminated in the preliminary round, just like in 2000 , when he acted as a skipper for the Swiss team Fast 2000 .

During his professional sailing career, he was also involved in the construction of several ships.

Pajot has received several medals, including the Ordre national du Mérite and the Ordre du Mérite Maritime .
