Bobo dormouse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bobo Siebenschläfer is the main and title character of a series of children's picture books by Markus Osterwalder , which has been published by Rowohlt-Verlag since 1984 .

Several short picture stories are gathered in each book, some of which were also published individually as Pixi books . At the end of most of the picture stories, Bobo falls asleep. The behavior and level of development of the anthropomorphic figure corresponds roughly to a 2 to 3 year old child. They are therefore deliberately designed as bedtime stories for toddlers . All other characters with human features, mainly his parents, with upright walking dormice shown.

The drawing style has changed noticeably over the years, but with its pastel colors it remains characteristic despite the stronger contour lines. Dorothée Böhlke has been illustrating Bobo Siebenschläfer since 2016.

The distribution of roles in the family is also changing. While in the first volumes the mother is exclusively responsible for the household, shopping and cooking and the father goes to (paid) work, in more recent volumes he is also shown doing housework.
