Marcel Dietsche

Marcel Dietsche (born October 27, 1979 ) is a Swiss politician of the Swiss People's Party (SVP).

Political career

In 2004 he was for the Swiss People's Party in the cantonal parliament of St. Gallen elected. In 2011 he became chairman of SVP Oberriet. In the autumn of 2016 Dietsche ran as mayor of Oberriet. After he was narrowly defeated in the first ballot against the incumbent Rolf Huber (FDP), he also failed in the runoff election. On May 1, 2019, he immediately resigned from the cantonal council and also as an employee of the St. Gallen canton police, as a criminal complaint had been filed against him for sexual harassment of work colleagues.

Profession and volunteering

Dietsche completed an apprenticeship as an electrician at the Buchs vocational and further training center. He later completed his training as a police officer and most recently took over the management of the Oberriet police station at the cantonal police.

Dietsche took over the chairmanship of the BZB Buchs vocational school commission on August 1, 2017. He is the sports association president of the Sport Union Ostschweiz .

Private life

Dietsche is married and lives in Kriessern with his wife and two children .
