Marcel de Roover

Chevalier Marcel de Roover (* 1890 , † 1971 ) was a conservative Belgian industrialist and banker .

De Roover had served as a volunteer in the Belgian Congo during the First World War . In 1919 he was appointed Belgian representative to General Denikin , who led part of the Belarusian armed forces in the fight against the Bolshevik revolutionaries. After further years of diplomatic activity in Sofia from 1920 he became director of SOGECHIM (Société Générale Industrielle et Chimique du Haut Katanga) in 1926. During the Second World War he collaborated with the German occupation forces. In 1941 he became director of BRUFINA, the holding of the Banque de Bruxelles. In 1962, de Roover was raised to the nobility.

De Roover played a central role in anti-communist activities in Belgium before, during and after World War II. In 1966 he became the Belgian representative in the World Anti-Communist League (WACL). He was also active in the European Documentation and Information Center (CEDI) , of which he was treasurer from 1960 and of which he was president of the Belgian section for many years.
