Marcella Burke (* in Illinois ) was an American writer who was nominated for an Oscar for best original story.

Life

Marcella Burke, originally from Illinois, was nominated at the 1939 Academy Awards, along with Frederick Kohner, for the Oscar for Best Original Story, for the Norman Taurog- directed Mad About Music (1938), in which Deanna Durbin , Herbert Marshall and Gail Patrick played the main roles.

The story, which remained her only work, was re-filmed in 1956 by Jerry Hopper under the title Toy Tiger . This time Jeff Chandler , Laraine Day and Tim Hovey played the leading roles.
