Marcin Pączkowski (composer)

Marcin Pączkowski (* 1983 in Kraków ) is a Polish composer and conductor.

Pączkowski studied composition with Wojciech Widłak and conducting with Rafał Delekta at the Kraków Music Academy . He continued his education at the University of Washington in Seattle in composition and computer music with Juan Pampin and Richard Karpen , and earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University's Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media .

He is particularly interested in the use of computer media in improvisation music; he also worked on interactive and multimedia projects. As a conductor he is particularly dedicated to the performance of new music. He is the conductor and director of the new music ensemble Inverted Space in Seattle, musical director of the Evergreen Community Orchestra in Everett and the chamber ensemble for contemporary vocal music Pogratulujny Mrówkom in Krakow.

Pączkowski's own works have been performed at composers' workshops and concerts in Poland and the USA. 2006–07 he was a scholarship holder of the Polish Sapere Auso Foundation . At the Polish Adam Didur composer competition in 2010 he received second prize.
