Marco Büchel (born March 16, 1983 in Wriezen ) is a German politician. As a member of the Left , he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament from 2009 to 2014 and between 2016 and 2019 .

Büchel grew up in Bad Freienwalde (Oder) . He is married and has two children.

education and profession

Büchel attended the Kollwitz elementary school and the Bertolt-Brecht-Gymnasium in his hometown, where he graduated from high school in 2002. He then completed an apprenticeship as a social security clerk at the DAK health insurance company between 2002 and 2005. He then worked there as a sales representative until 2009 and between 2014 and 2016.

politics

Political party

In 2004 he joined the PDS and was a member of its state youth council until the merger of the party with the WASG in summer 2007. He is currently a member of the district executive of the Left in the Märkisch-Oderland district.

Local politics

He took on his first political mandate after the local elections in autumn 2003 as a city councilor in Bad Freienwalde. Since 2004 he has headed the specialist committee for education, culture, social affairs, youth and sport in the city council.

Parliament

In the state elections on September 27, 2009, as a direct candidate of his party, he was able to win the constituency of Märkisch-Oderland III with 32.3% of the first votes and was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament for the first time. He was the youngest MP there.

In 2014, however, he did not manage to return directly to the state parliament. Büchel has been a member of the state parliament again since March 2016. He moved up for Kerstin Kaiser , who resigned from her mandate. He was chairman of the committee for European policy, development policy and consumer protection and spokesman for his group for the topics of European policy, development policy and consumer protection.
