Marco Schüpbach (* 17th December 1978 in Bern ) was a Swiss ice hockey player and current coach, the last for SC Langenthal in the National League B played. He won the Swiss championship with SC Bern in 1997 .

Career as a player

Marco Schüpbach, who played in the position of defender, played in his youth for SC Bern , for which he made his debut in the National League A during the 1996/97 season . In his first season he completed a total of 33 NLA games for the Bernese, with which he won the Swiss championship after winning the final series against EV Zug . Schüpbach completed another season in the Mutzen dress , before he moved to the national league B in 1998 for canton rivals EHC Biel . Overall, the defensive player defended for three years for the Biel, before the left shooting player for the 2001/02 season accepted an offer from league rivals EHC Visp .

He was there for four years as a regular before the Bernese returned to the National League A for the 2005/06 season and signed with the SCL Tigers . He left this after one season and returned to the second highest league level at EHC Visp. For the Valais, Schüpbach was a regular on the ice in the following period. In the 2010/11 season he won the National League B championship with EHC Visp, but then missed promotion to the National League A. He ended his active career in 2017 after Schüpbach had spent three seasons in the SC Langenthal jersey .

Career as a coach

Schüpbach began training as a coach while he was still in Visp. After moving to SC Langenthal, he was part of Bengt Ericsson's coaching staff at the Moskito Top.

Since the 2015/16 season, Schüpbach has been the head of the data collection department at SC Langenthal. In spring 2018 he received his junior coach diploma. From the 2018/19 season he will also act as head coach of the Moskito Top at SC Langenthal.
