The Mare Nectaris ( Latin for "sea of nectar") is a small lunar sea in an impact crater on the Earth's moon .
It is located on the selenographic coordinates 15 ° S; 35 ° E and has a mean diameter of 340 km. The largest crater is the Rosse crater in the central south. To the west it borders the Montes Pyrenaeus Mountains . The rock is 1 km thick. The prenectarian and nectarian periods of the lunar timescale were named after this mare.
