Margalit Matitiahu , Hebrew מרגלית מתתיהו, occasionally also written Matityahu (* 1935 in Tel Aviv , Palestine ) is an Israeli poet. She mostly writes her texts in Hebrew and Ladino .

Life

After the Holocaust , Margalit Matitiahu came to Israel with her parents from Thessaloniki . She studied Hebrew Literature and Philosophy at Bar Ilan University .

She began her writing activity and initially published in Hebrew. In 1988 Curtijo Quemado was published. She also worked as a radio presenter and received an honorary doctorate from the World Academy of Art and Culture . Matitiahu is a member of the Israeli Pen Club and has already received several awards. Like several other poets (Matilda Koen-Sarano, Avner Perez in Israel, Rita Gabbai Simantov in Greece, Clarisse Nikoidski in France and Gloria Ascher in the USA) she also writes in the so-called Judeo-Spanish language.
