Margaret Jamieson

Margaret Jamieson (* 1953 in Kilmarnock ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .

Life

Jamieson attended Grange Academy in Kilmarnock and Ayr College and earned degrees in hospitality. Between 1969 and 1979 she worked as a cook, which was followed by many years of work in a regional office of the UNISON union .

Political career

In the 1999 Scottish general election , Jamieson stood as a Labor Party candidate for the constituency of Kilmarnock and Loudoun . With a lead of around 2800 votes over the candidate of the SNP , Alex Neil , she won the mandate and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament . In the following parliamentary elections in 2003 , she defended her mandate despite losing votes. The parliamentary elections in 2007 finally brought a change of MPs from Kilmarnock and Loudoun, because the SNP politician Willie Coffey succeeded for the first time in winning the constituency for his party and Jamieson lost her seat in parliament.
