Margaret Wall, Baroness Wall of New Barnet
Margaret Mary Wall, Baroness Wall of New Barnet (* 14. November 1941 , † 25. January 2017 ) is a British trade union functionary and politician of the Labor Party , which since 2004 member of the House of Lords is.
Life
Union and party official
After attending Druids Cross Independent School and Notre Dame High School in Liverpool , Margaret Wall graduated from Ruskin College, University of Liverpool . Then she began her career with a company of the chemical industry in North West England before 1986 Gewerkschaftsfunktionärin at the union Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs was (ASTMS).
After its merger with the Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Section (TASS) union to form Manufacturing, Science and Finance (MSF) in January 1988, she worked for this union. MSF merged with the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union (AEEU), UNIFI and Graphical, Paper and Media Union (GPMU) to form the Amicus union , where Margaret Wall became director of the local department for politics and political participation in 2001.
At the same time, she was elected Chair of the Labor Party for a one-year term by the National Executive Committee of the Labor Party in 2001 and as such chaired the meetings of the National Executive Committee and the annual party congresses until 2002 .
House of Lords
On June 10, 2004, she was raised to the nobility by a letters patent as a Life Peeress with the title Baroness Wall of New Barnet , of New Barnet in the London Borough of Barnet . On 23 June 2004 its introduction (followed Introduction ) as a member of the House of Lords .
Baroness Wall, who is a member of her party's National Political Forum, has been chairwoman of the Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Hospitals Trust since November 2005 , which operates the two hospitals Barnet General Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital . She is also involved as a consultant to the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies (SEMTA), an employers ' association that represents 76,000 companies with around 2 million employees and organizes education and training to promote those who work there and is also a member of the board affiliated National Skills Academy for Manufacturing .
