Margit Engelmann

Margit Engelmann (born March 22, 1953 in Wurzen ) is a German table tennis player and official. She won five titles in GDR championships in the 1970s.

Career as active

Engelmann played for the Lok Leipzig-Wahren club from 1965 to 1971 and then moved to BSG Lokomotive Leipzig-Mitte , with whose women's team she was GDR champion in 1976/77. In 1973, 1974, 1976 and 1977 she won the title in doubles with Petra Stephan . With this partner she reached the final in 1972 and 1975. In 1978 she was second in the individual.

Margit Engelmann was a GDR national player from 1971 to 1978. However, since the GDR closed itself off internationally in table tennis as of 1972 as a result of the competitive sports decision, Engelmann hardly had the opportunity to distinguish itself internationally.

In 1993, Engelmann joined the SV Rotation Leipzig-Süd association before returning to SV Lokomotive Leipzig-Mitte in 1999. When their table tennis department disbanded, she went to SV Eintracht Leipzig Süd .

Functionary

In 1987 Margit Engelmann wrote the book table tennis together with other authors . Instructions for the trainer (SVB Sportverlag Berlin, ISBN 3-328-00150-6 ). In 1989 she became a member of the GDR Presidium as chairwoman of the coaching council. After the reunification she worked as a co-opted member of the teaching committee of the German Table Tennis Association DTTB until 1992 . Since 1993 she has been an instructor in the Saxon TT Association.
