Margit Island

Margit Island is an island in the South Georgia archipelago in the South Atlantic . It is the westernmost in the Jomfruene group .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2009. It is named after Margit Therse Larsen (1892–1990), one of the daughters of the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur Carl Anton Larsen , who was influential in South Georgia .
