Margus Allikmaa

Margus Allikmaa (born June 28, 1961 in Paldiski ) is an Estonian journalist, cultural worker and politician. Allikmaa has been director of public broadcasting and television of the Republic of Estonia ( Eesti Rahvusringhääling ) since 2007 . He belongs to the liberal reform party .

Life

Margus Allikmaa completed his training as a radio technician at the Tallinn Polytechnic in 1980 . Until 1985 he studied electrical engineering at the Polytechnic Institute in the Estonian capital.

From 1981 to 1998 Allikmaa held various positions at the Eesti Draamateater in Tallinn, including eight years as director of the theater. In 1998/1999 he headed the media company Trio LSL raadiogrupp , which operates numerous private radio stations in Estonia.

From 1999 to 2002 Allikmaa was State Secretary in the Estonian Ministry of Culture. After the resignation of Culture Minister Signe Kivi due to a financial scandal, Allikmaa was in the cabinet of Prime Minister Siim Kallas Culture Minister of the Republic of Estonia from September 2002 to April 2003 .

After leaving office, Allikmaa was Deputy Mayor of Tallinn until June 2004. In 2004 he became director of the Estonian public radio ( Eesti Raadio ).

Since January 2007 Margus Allikmaa has been the director of the Estonian Public Broadcasting and Television (ERR).

Margus Allikmaa is married to the publicist Eda Allikmaa. The couple have two daughters.
