history

A small church was mentioned as early as 1606 on the site of today's church. There was a wooden church in the monastery dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary . A stone church building was only built in 1672 by the merchant Afanasjew Firsowitschem Olissowym.

The Assumption Church was destroyed in a fire in 1715. The original main body of the church was not restored. In 1934 the bell tower was demolished. It was not until the 1960s that the building was completely renovated again.

The church and the bell tower were completely reconstructed in 2004. On March 15, 2004, a team of painters under the direction of Alexei Vladimirovich Anziferov began work on the murals .

On July 29, 2004, the Dormition Church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Nizhny Novgorod and Arsamas.
