The Church of the Annunciation is a place of worship of the Greek Catholic Eparchy Križevci in Croatia .

history

The Church of the Annunciation, located in the village of Strmac Pribićki , Zagreb County , near Krašić, is a sacred building in the Neo-Byzantine style . Its construction was commissioned in 1911 by the Greek Catholic Bishop Julije Drohobeczky . The builder was the Croatian architect Stjepan Podhorsky .

The new church was supposed to symbolize the three hundred year ecclesiastical union that had been entered into with the Roman Catholic Church in Croatia under the leadership of Bishop Simeon Vratanja in 1611 . The church is located on an artificially created island in an artificially created lake. When the church was built, bricks from sacred buildings from the former Greek-Catholic eparchy of Marča were inserted into the church foundation .

The badly dilapidated church building was extensively restored for the 400th anniversary of the union with the Church of Rome in 2011.
