Maria Grace Koh

Maria Grace Koh (born October 25, 1992 ) is a swimmer from Brunei . She is a member of the national swimming team in her country and holds the national swimming records in the 50 m, 100 m and 200 m chest, 50 m, 100 m and 200 m butterfly and over 200 m and 400 m medley.

Career

Koh was born the oldest of three siblings. She began swimming at the age of eight and competed in her first competition at her school, the International School Berakas. When she was nine years old, she asked her parents to enroll her for swimming lessons, and that same year she took part in an international competition for the first time in the Philippines .

At the age of 10, Koh became a member of the Brunei junior national team. In 2005 she won the bronze medal in the 50 meter butterfly at the Arafura Games in Darwin . In 2005 and 2007 she participated in the Sabah Age Group Swimming Championships.

In August 2008, Koh was supposed to represent their country at the Summer Olympics in Beijing together with the shot putter Mohd Yazid Yatimi Yusof . After the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council let the registration deadline for its athletes expire, the sultanate was excluded from participation immediately before the start of the opening ceremony.
