María Ignacia Benítez
María Ignacia Benítez Pereira (born August 1, 1958 in Viña del Mar ; † February 28, 2019 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean politician .
Life
Benítez was married to Gonzalo Jiménez Parada and had three children. After completing school at the colegio Jeanne D'Arc , she successfully completed a degree in chemical engineering at the Universidad de Chile . She later taught at the Universidad del Desarrollo . Several publications by Benítez also date from this period.
From March 11, 2010 to March 2014, Benítez, a member of the UDI, was Environment Minister in Sebastián Piñera's cabinet .
