Steeple

The church was originally built as a Protestant church on the site of the castle ruins. The construction work took place from 1795 to 1798.

After 1945 the church building was handed over to the local Evangelical Augsburg community. Because of the small number of believers, the church has been used as a furniture store and sales point since 1962. In 1973 it was given to the Roman Catholic parish of St. George. 1974 to 1979 the building was renovated and adapted to the Catholic rite. It was consecrated on May 27, 1979, and on October 15, 1981, it was elevated to the status of Maria-Mutter-der-Kirche parish church.

architecture

The church building stands on a rectangular floor plan (37 × 22.5 m), the bell tower on the east facade on a 9 × 15 m base with a mighty arched arcade resting on two pillars, similar to other church buildings by Langhans. The two-storey tower has a halo on four pillars with a cross on top.

The three galleries with slender columns form an oval interior space, inserted into the rectangular outer walls. The smooth oval dome corresponds in shape and size to the floor of the first floor.

On March 3, 1960, the church was included in the list of architectural monuments under the number A / 4093/654.
