Maria de Fátima (Fado singer)

Maria de Fátima (* 1961 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese fado singer . She has lived in Amsterdam for more than 20 years .

Live and act

De Fátima began her career as a singer at the age of twelve when she released her first album. In the following years she released three more albums and won the Grande Noite de Fado at the age of 14 . As a teenager, she shared the stage with some of the major fado singers such as Amália Rodrigues and Camané .

In 2002, already living in the Netherlands, she recorded the album Foi Deus , which was well received by the critics. In 2004 she was on stage on the Dutch tour Noite de Fado with Hélder Moutinho and Joana Amendoeira ; in the same year her album Fado vivo was released . In the next few years she toured with a theater show dedicated to the life of Amália Rodrigues, but also with the Dutch rock singer Thé Lau .
