Marianne Markan
Marianne Markan , née Marianne Kanitz ( October 10, 1867 in Vienna - after 1900), was an Austrian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).
Life
Markan, the daughter of the mine owner Kanitz, took lessons from Anna Pessiak and Marianne Brandt . After she had already performed successfully as a dilettante, she decided to take up the stage career.
She found her first engagement in Stettin in 1887, where she made her debut as "Azucena" and stayed until 1889, after which she worked for a year in Bremen and joined the Hofbühne association in Dessau on October 1, 1890, where she was in an excellent position until 1900 was active and was awarded the title of ducal chamber singer in recognition of her services in 1897.
Markan mastered the entire old subject with absolute success. Games worth mentioning were: "Fides", "Amneris", "Orpheus", "Adriano", "Ortrud", "Pamela", "Mercedes", "Nancy" etc.
