Mariannenplatz 4 (Munich)

Mariannenplatz 4

Mariannenplatz 4 is a listed apartment building in the Lehel district of the Bavarian capital, Munich . The building was erected in the years 1893/94 in neo-baroque form according to plans by Albin Lincke and Carl Vent .

The facade, which is partly made of stone , shows a rich three-dimensional decoration. The house forms a design unit with the block at Steinsdorfstrasse 10 .

In 1934 the Munich folk actor Karl Valentin (1882–1948) moved into an apartment in the house. He lived there until the last years of the war , before he retired to his house in Planegg in view of the threat posed by the air raids on the city . On April 25, 1944, his apartment was destroyed in a bomb attack.
