Marie Louise Army

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The so-called Marie-Louise Army (French: les Marie-Louise ) was the nickname for the French conscripts born in 1814 and 1815, who were called up by the Senate on October 9, 1813 on the initiative of Empress Marie-Louise . This so-called "décret Marie-Louise" extended above all to the young recruits of the last contingent, who were untrained and inexperienced in warfare and who were therefore placed alongside veterans of the Grande Armée . With these “novices”, the French emperor won the battle of Champaubert and the battle of Montmirail .

During the Battle of Champaubert a "Marie-Louise" Chasseur à cheval succeeded in capturing the Russian general Sachar Dmitrijewitsch Olsufjew and handing over to the emperor.
