Marie Hermanson (* 1956 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish writer and journalist.

Life

Marie Hermanson grew up in Sävedalen near Gothenburg. She attended the journalism college in Gothenburg and studied literature and sociology at the University of Gothenburg . Alongside her studies, she worked as a nurse in a psychiatric clinic.

After her studies, she worked as a journalist for various daily newspapers.

In 1986 she released her debut Det finns ett hål i verkligheten ("There is a hole in reality"), a volume with stories inspired by Scandinavian fairy tales and myths. Her novel The Butterfly Woman was nominated for the prestigious August Prize ( August Prize ) in Sweden in 1995 . With mussel beach she also achieved her breakthrough internationally. In German also appeared The Blank Slate (2004), stays clean (2005), The Man under the stairs (2007) and mushrooms for Madeleine (2009), all novels in which they own words, "the daily horror in our peculiar time “Thematized.

In 2011 her psychological thriller Himmelstal was released .
