The Marie Point is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It is at the north end of the entrance to Royal Bay . Harcourt Island is just east of it .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2009. It is named after the Marie , a boat of a German expedition to South Georgia as part of the First International Polar Year (1882–1883).
