The Marienkapelle in Wang is a chapel in the municipality of Wang in the Scheibbs district in Lower Austria . In 2012 it was converted from a former EVN AG transformer station into a chapel.

history

In 2012 Anna Kogler from Wang had the idea of converting the former and vacant EVN transformer station in Ewixen (municipality of Wang near Steinakirchen am Forst ) into a place where people can “ recharge their batteries ”. Before that, the transformer station supplied a local sawmill and households in the area for years. After the construction of a new station, the old one was adapted into a Marienkapelle by the local population.

Furnishing

In the chapel there is an approximately one hundred year old Lourdes Madonna with a height of 170 centimeters. Until the fire in 1952 the statue was in the Wieselburg parish church , after which it was housed on farms in the area. After extensive restoration, it was placed in the new chapel.
