Wang is a market town with 1,369 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Scheibbs district in Lower Austria .
geography
Wang is located in the Mostviertel in Eisenwurzen in Lower Austria . The area of the market town covers 19.66 square kilometers. 29.05 percent of the area is forested.

history
In ancient times, the area was part of the Noricum province . A Roman road ran along the small Erlauf, so that there has probably been a small settlement here for a long time. The first documentary mention of Wang did not take place until 1334.
After the dissolution of the manorial Wang / Reinsperg the 1538 elevated to the market in 1850, Wang was a separate municipality.
During the Second World War , 60 men from the cadastral parishes of Wang died in the war.
In 1970 the communities Reidlingberg and Pyhrafeld were incorporated.
