The Marienkirche of the Ordensburg Marienburg is located in Marienburg . This was badly damaged in the Second World War and was restored in stages.

description

The sacred building, consecrated in 1344, was expanded under Grand Master Dietrich von Altenburg to form St. Mary's Church. A polygonal choir protruding over the structure of the high castle was built. On the outer wall of the end of the choir, there was an eight meter high statue of Mary covered with colored glass mosaic in a niche until 1945. Individual fragments were preserved from the plastic. Since 2007 the reconstruction including the financing has been prepared. On March 31, 2016 the time had come, in the presence of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order from Vienna , the figure was consecrated again.

Two gates have also been preserved. The "Golden Gate" is a ceramic portal from the 13th century and forms the entrance door to St. Mary's Church. The St. Anne's burial chapel with two portals made of artificial stone is located under the church. The north portal of the church shows the coronation of Mary.

The outside of the church has been completely restored. The internal restoration was carried out in stages, but it will not be complete. As a result of the war damage, details of the building structure and the original paintings were exposed or visible. These areas therefore remain unrestored, at least for the time being. The damage should remain visible.
