Maximilian "Mario" Kranz (born September 29, 1907 in Lemberg , Austria-Hungary , † April 30, 1990 ) was an Austrian actor on stage and in film.

Live and act

Born Maximilian Kranz, he came to Vienna at a young age, where he trained as an actor by Josef Danegger . In 1926 his first stage engagement led him to the German Theater in Pilsen. He was then seen at venues in Landshut (here still as Maximilian Kranz) and Innsbruck, before he could be seen on small Viennese theaters for five years from 1929. The general political situation in Austria in 1934 (the assassination of Chancellor Dollfuss and the establishment of Austrofascism ) prompted the Jew Kranz to leave the country and emigrate to the British Mandate Palestine. There he was director of the Kammerspiele in Jerusalem until 1947. As a result of the UN partition plan and the subsequent establishment of the state of Israel, Mario Kranz returned to Vienna and from 1947/48 appeared again at venues in the Austrian capital (including the Renaissance Theater, the Volkstheater and the New Theater in der Scala). He also took part in RAVAG radio broadcasts and took part in small roles in Austrian cinema and television films.
