Mario Missiroli (director)

Mario Missiroli (born March 13, 1934 in Bergamo , † May 19, 2014 in Turin ) was an Italian theater director .

Missiroli worked primarily for the stage since 1957; he graduated from the Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica . After a time as an assistant to Giorgio Strehler , he established himself as an innovative and sometimes provocative contemporary director in the late 1960s. From 1977 to 1985 he directed the Teatro Stabile di Torino . In the 1990s he worked in Rome. He worked with many important actors and actresses on the Italian theater scene. On a few occasions he was involved in motion pictures. Based on the novel by A. Arbasino, he shot his only contribution to the screen in 1962, La bella di Lodi , a rather conventional story based on his own script about a Lombard girl in times of economic boom. Missiroli has worked a few times for television, including Debt and Atonement , Danton's death and Lulu .

Missiroli was a member of the PDCI .
