Mario Zotta

Mario Zotta (born November 6, 1904 in Pietragalla , Province of Potenza , † February 21, 1963 ) was an Italian politician of the Democrazia Cristiana (DC), who was a member of the Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) and temporarily a minister between 1948 and 1963 .

Life

Zotta completed a law degree and graduated with a Laurea in giurisprudenza . He then worked as a lawyer and temporarily as a member of the Council of State ( Consiglio di Stato ) . In the parliamentary elections of June 2, 1946 , he became a member of the Constituent Assembly ( Assemblea Costituente ) for the Democrazia Cristiana (DC ) and represented the constituency XXVII Potenza until January 31, 1948 . In the elections of April 18, 1948 , he was then elected for the DC in the Basilicata region as a member of the Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) . During the first legislative period, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Finance and Treasury from June 16, 1948 to June 6, 1951, and then from June 7, 1951 to June 24, 1953, of the Standing Committee on Prime Minister's Affairs and Home Affairs. At the same time he was from May 8, 1948 to December 31, 1949 and again between January 1, 1951 and December 31, 1952 member of the parliamentary group executive committee of the DC.

In the second legislative period he was from June 25, 1953 to March 15, 1954 on the Standing Committee on Affairs of the Prime Minister and Home Affairs. In the eighth cabinet of De Gasperi and in the cabinet of Pella, Zotta held the post of Undersecretary of State in the Treasury (Sottosegretario di Stato per il tesoro) from July 17, 1953 to January 17, 1954 . Between February 19 and June 11, 1954, he was again a member of the Standing Committee on Finance and Treasury. He was also from March 16, 1954 to July 2, 1957 Chairman of the Standing Committee on Affairs of the Prime Minister and the Interior, of which he was a member again between July 3, 1957 and June 11, 1958. In the meantime, between January 18, 1955 and June 11, 1958, he was chairman of the Advisory Commission on the Status of Public Service Employees (Commissione consultiva statuto degli impiegati civili) and from February 15, 1956 to May 16, 1957, also chairman of the permanent Finance and Treasure Committee.

On May 19, 1957, he was appointed minister without portfolio for the reform of public administration (Ministro senza portafoglio per la riforma della pubblica amministrazione) in the Zoli cabinet and was a member of it until June 30, 1958. Most recently, during the third legislative period between July 9, 1958 and his death on February 21, 1963, he continued to be a member of the Standing Committee on Prime Minister Affairs and Home Affairs.
