Mario de Marco

Mario de Marco (born October 18, 1965 ) is a Maltese politician of the Nationalist Party . He was briefly a member of the European Parliament (MEP) and is currently Parliamentary State Secretary.

biography

Mario de Marco is the son of long-time minister and former president of Malta Guido de Marco . After school education at St. Aloysius' College in Birkirkara he graduated in law at the University of Malta , which he in 1988 with the promotion of Doctor of Laws ( LLD graduated). Then he could by a grant from the Commonwealth Scholarship , a post-graduate studies at Trinity Hall of the University of Cambridge graduate, he with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) graduated in International Trade Law. He was then appointed lecturer in international commercial law at the University of Malta.

In the parliamentary elections in 2003 he was elected for the first time as a member of the House of Representatives. He then became vice chairman of committees and a member of the auditing and foreign and European affairs committees.

From May 1 to July 19, 2004, after Malta's accession to the European Union (EU), he was a member of the European Parliament (MEP) and was a member of the Committee on Budgets as a representative of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats .

In 2008 he was re-elected as a member of parliament and continues to represent constituency 1 . After the Partit Nazzjonalista narrowly won the parliamentary elections in Malta in 2008 , Prime Minister Gonzi appointed him Parliamentary State Secretary for Tourism in the Prime Minister’s Office and thus belongs to the extended cabinet.
