The Marion County Courthouse in Knoxville , the Justice and Administration Building ( Courthouse ) of Marion County of south-central US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .
The current building is the third courthouse in Marion County, founded in 1845. The first building was a timber frame construction that also served as a school and church. In 1858, a two-story building in the Greek Revival style was constructed in Knoxville, which served exclusively as a judicial and administrative building for Marion County until 1895. The current building was opened in 1896.
The three-story building was built from sandstone in the neo-Romanesque style according to a design by the architect Mifflin E. Bell . In the middle of the building, a clock tower several stories high rises above the roof.
In 1981, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places with reference number 81000256 .
