The Maritime Week on the Weser is an event that takes place every September in Bremen . Its aim is to provide information about Bremen's maritime economy , science and leisure activities and to focus on the Weser . The program of the Maritime Week on the Weser mixes information (lectures, readings, ship tours, city and factory tours with a focus on ports and shipping) and entertainment (maritime market, maritime city ​​rally for children) and closes on the last day with a ship parade on the Weser . The locations of the Maritime Week stretch from the banks of the Weser to the old town in downtown Bremen.

Since 1980 the administration of the ports of Bremen and since 2002 bremenports GmbH & Co. KG have organized the annual “Maritime Week” in order to convey the importance of the ports of Bremen through lectures, guided tours and visits to port and logistics companies. In September 2008 the “CityInitiative Bremen Werbung e. V. ”, a lobby for the inner city economy, with“ Bremen Maritim ”an event in which the informative elements on the importance of Bremen's maritime industries were linked with an entertainment program.

In September 2009, the CityInitiative and bremenports combined their events for the first time in the Maritime Week on the Weser.

The Maritime Week on the Weser is funded by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) .
