Life

Romania

In Romania he was a professional musician. With his first groups from 1983 to 1987 - Marathon Group, Inscriptie in timp and Pe cont Propriu - he was able to celebrate his first successes. At the "Cenaclul Flacarea" (a well-known festival in Romania at the time) Marius Dobra was discovered by Iuliu Merca by Semnal M. In 1987 he took him on tour and became his mentor and friend.

The popular rock group RIFF also became aware of Marius Dobra and took him into the band in 1988. Long tours, a long-playing record and further successes followed.

Austria

In 1989 Marius Dobra left Romania and emigrated to Austria . Here he continued to make music with the Juvina sextet. Her song "Take one from the fire brigade" landed at number 1 on the ORF Burgenland record carousel program .

From 1996 Marius Dobra devoted all his energy to his companies that produce and sell garden furniture and wood in the garden: Dobra GmbH (Austria), SC Austrowwod SRL (Romania), Transportsolution SRL (Romania) and MWD Colection (Hong Kong). In 2003 he made it to number 23 of the 100 most successful young entrepreneurs in Austria. After a burnout in 2009, Dobra withdrew from the operative business of the company and devoted himself again to music: this time he played blues-rock under the name Marius Dobra Band with partly Christian lyrics.

In 2015 he represented Romania at the European Blues Challenge in Brussels. In addition, he played at national and international festivals with well-known artists such as Supermax and José Feliciano . Most of his songs are original compositions or well-known blues-rock classics that have been unmistakably covered.

Personal and family

At the age of four, Marius Dobra's parents discovered his particular interest in music, but also his business skills (for example, at the age of five he was skillful and “profitable” exchanging toys with his friends. Later, as a teenager, he also sold musical instruments). At 7 he got his first real guitar and started taking lessons. In school, he performed at various events and competitions, where he mostly ended up in first place.

After graduating from high school in Romania in 1985 , he worked as a professional musician until 1989 . Then he left Romania. He lives in Austria with his wife and three children.
