Mark Burton (born May 18, 1974 in Wellington ) is a former New Zealand football player who played in Germany and in his home country, as well as in the New Zealand national team.
Career
In Germany, Burton began his career with the Werder Bremen reserve team in the Regionalliga Nord , where he was active until 1995. For the 1995/1996 season he moved to VfL Osnabrück and played there until 1998 before he was transferred to Kickers Emden . After only one year in Emden, he finally moved to his last station in Germany: Burton played for VfB Lübeck for one year before moving to his home country in 2000 to join Football Kingz , where he was active until 2004.
National team
For the New Zealand national team, Burton played the OFC Nations Cup in 1998 and 2002 , and in 1998 he scored the decisive winning goal against Australia to win the title. He also played for his country in the Confederations Cup in Mexico in 1999 and in France in 2003 .
